Aims, Skills and Learning Outcomes

Short Description of the Course
The Curricular Unit of Project I consists of the elaboration of a research essay applied to the professional reality, within the scope of the subjects covered or not during the course.
The work can focus on the diagnosis of an identified problem or the study of a new problem, and on the application of methods and instruments for solving a situation already identified by others or by the student. It can also, provided that in agreement with the teacher of the curricular unit, address a topic of relevance on the theme of the course, and must follow the scientific method with a view to its possible publication.

The project can, if the conditions exist, be carried out in a school environment, being, by nature, the result of a completely individual and unprecedented work.

Learning Objectives and Results
1. Understanding and acknowledging technical information related to the area of study of the course;
2. Development of analytical and reflective critical capacity through a known or new theme;
3. Identify problems, make diagnoses and create solutions according to a decision logic and measurement of results;
4. Encourage, if the subject of the essay allows, the investigation on a subject within the courses scope, in the sense of its publication and enrichment of knowledge in the area;

Skills to Develop
1. Critical analyses and reflective ability
2. Ability to analyze, decide and solve problems;
3. Application of autonomous methods of study and creation of decision trees, applied to real problems;
4. Motivation for continuous learning.

Programme

Each student must develop a Document under the guidance of an Accompanying Professor appointed by ISAG.
Tutorial sessions will be used to present and discuss the essay done and the evolution up to the final document.
The document size should not exceed 30 pages, excluding cover, indexes, appendices and attachments.

In the development of the essay it is also expected that the student refers to works in the area already published, with the use of articles taken from the ABI / Inform repository.

The document will be presented and defended publicly.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

Project work I presents a learning component applied to practical situations, with the intention that students are able to apply the knowledge obtained in the taught within the curricular units, carrying out a study. Likewise, if the student's choice is in the sense of developing an original research essay, there is clear coherence with the objectives of the course unit, with regard to autonomous work.

Learning Methods

Elaboration of individual essay accompanied by an Advisor designated by ISAG.

Continuous Assessment

The student should develop a report under the guidance of a Faculty Advisor who will evaluate the final quality of the work produced. The combination between the work and the report submitted by the student will result in 60% of the final grade, and the presentation/defense will result in 40%.

According to the General Regulation:

Presentations/defenses will be made before a jury composed by Faculty Advisor and another teacher nominated for that purpose. The jury will perform a previous assessment of the work to be presented. The arrangement of the presentations will be posted in an appropriate place and communicated to the students by the Faculty Advisor.

Dead-line for the Report I submission: July 03rd 2024.

Final Exam

The student who fails to submit the Research Project, as well as the student who is absent or fails the defense on the dates defined by the Internship Commission, except for compelling reasons, will be given the final grade of disapproval and may require a new evaluation at the time of appeal which, in this case, will be in the worker-student season.

Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

The student's choice to do an individual assignment is in line with the objectives of the course. As one of the objectives is the development of autonomous work related to practical issues in the area of study of the Course, the fact that the student works individually, although accompanied by an Advisor appointed by ISAG demonstrates the adequacy of the objectives to the teaching methodology.
