It is intended that ISAG is identified as a private higher education institution of high level, dedicated to the creation, transmission and dissemination of culture and knowledge of a professional nature, duly recognized as one of the most prestigious, qualified and innovative in the country and in the European context, and with a strong relationship of trust with the school community, business and other organizations.

ISAG's mission is to train graduates in the areas of Business Science, Tourism and Applied Languages, without prejudice to others, with a solid cultural and technical background at a higher level, suitable for a qualified and successful insertion into the various professional sectors and for participation in the development of Portuguese society, as well as providing specialized services to the community and lifelong learning.

ISAG accomplishes its institutional mission with reference to the following set of core values:

1. Respect for the individual: respect for the dignity and expectations of each student and staff member, helping them to share in the success of ISAG to which they have contributed, and acknowledging individual achievements and promoting their sense of pride. All people in the ISAG community are recognized as having the following rights: the right to be useful, to participate, to understand, to be responsible, to appeal, to make commitments and to a relationship of respect;

2. Service to the school community: ISAG's primary responsibility is to students, teachers, staff and all who use its services. The aim will be to provide the best possible teaching/learning service, the role of the financial results obtained being, in particular, to finance the development of the educational establishment and to provide the resources necessary to achieve its objectives;

3. Proximity to students and teachers: Effective teaching/learning requires a climate of attention, and the educational establishment should be seen as offering its students a sense of belonging, of being recognized and respected, and the teacher should be esteemed and valued. Being attentive will thus be a social objective to be respected;

4. The importance given to details in the execution will be a conviction in the process of providing excellent quality services to students;

5. Valuing creativity and innovation, individual and institutional;

6. Valuing behaviours and attitudes that are based on the values of responsibility, a sense of service, solidarity, mutual respect, teamwork, flexibility and ethicality.

1. The ISAG shall pursue, among others, the following objectives:

a) to provide higher education in undergraduate and master's programmes, as well as specialisation and further training courses and activities;
b) To carry out quality technical and scientific research, promoting the dissemination of its results, the social and economic valorisation of knowledge and technological innovation through teaching, publications or other forms of communication and transfer to the economic and social fabric;
c) To create internal and external evaluation, quality assurance and community accountability devices based on known standards;
d) To ensure the provision of specialized services to the community and contribute to the development of the country by organizing partnerships with companies and institutions;
e) To stimulate cultural creation and the development of critical and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as reflective thinking and professional competitiveness of students;
f) To provide personal and professional fulfilment to the members of the community, namely through the promotion of artistic, cultural and sporting activities, in an educational environment of dialogue and tolerance;
g) To ensure conditions for the training, qualification and professional development of teachers, researchers and non-teaching staff;
h) To encourage internationalisation and cultural, scientific and technological cooperation, ensuring the mobility of students, teachers and researchers and supporting the international projection of their work;
i) To stimulate the connection with former students, promoting their participation in the life of the educational establishment;
j) To promote the knowledge of the major issues of today, in a context of globalization, in particular national, regional and European;
k) To institute prizes and incentives aimed at recognizing merit, distinguishing quality and supporting activities that value the institution at national and international level;
l) To promote and value the Portuguese language and culture, namely through a connection with the Portuguese speaking countries;
m) To develop the relationship with the northern region of the country and, in particular, with the Metropolitan Area of Porto, contributing to the enhancement of its cultural, technical-scientific and social life.
