Aims, Skills and Learning Outcomes

DESCRIPTIVE SUMMARY OF CURRICULAR UNIT
The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge about the legal regimes of tourist accommodation and catering and drinks as well as the complaints book, with application to simulated practical situations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Create and develop scientific training in the technical-legal field, through concrete actions aimed at:
- Acquire a notion of law and its basic functioning;
- Know the Portuguese legal system as regards tourism in general and accommodation and catering in particular;
- Know how to interpret, apply and integrate the legislative productions of the sector and / or apply to it.

SKILLS TO DEVELOP
It is intended that students, at the end of the semester, will be able to:
- To frame the legal-legal aspects with the prospective professional activity.
- To proceed with the analysis and discussion of legal texts, understanding and applying / concretizing in the real situations of tourism activity in general.
- To research, analyze and work autonomously all the legislative production of the sector, with critical spirit and adequate scientific basis.

Catering and Beverage Legal Regime
Complaint Book Legal Regime
This allows the acquisition of some skills that the hotel management course provides for: managing accommodation and catering operations and beverages.

Learning Methods

Expository method complemented by the discussion of documents to be present at the contact hours and the appreciation of practical cases, first extracted from jurisprudential decisions.

Continuous Assessment

2 written tests (40% + 40%)

1 group work (20%)

a) The effective attendance of students in class will be recorded and, if the number of absences per student exceeds 30% of the total number of contact sessions for each course unit, will be automatically transferred to the final evaluation of the normal season;

b) In the written tests and in the defined evaluation elements it is necessary to obtain a minimum grade of 7.5 points;

c) If the student misses or achieves a grade lower than 7.5 points in the tests or evaluation elements referred to in the previous number, he / she will be automatically transferred to the final evaluation of the normal season;

d) If the student misses or achieves a grade lower than 7.5 points in the second written test (held on the same date as the final written test of the normal season), he / she may require registration for evaluation at the time of appeal;

e) All written academic work provided for in the assessment (reports, case studies, etc.) must be submitted to the Turnitin database, available on the ISAG E-Learning platform, with a similarity rate up to 30% acceptable.

In order to familiarize students with the basic legislation of the sector in which they will be inserted professionally (acquiring and operating basic concepts of law and knowing the most important legal regimes) makes sense the expository method accompanied by the resolution of practical cases that simulate the application of the standards studied
