Aims, Skills and Learning Outcomes

DESCRIPTIVE SUMMARY OF CURRICULAR UNIT
The Unit, Multimedia for Business aims to increase the level of knowledge of students in terms of multimedia systems, allowing to increase their understanding of capacity about its operation and importance in the business world.

OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
The objectives of the course are as follows:
1. Describe and identify the role of multimedia systems in business circles;
2. To characterize types of Multimedia Systems and understand their impact on the business sector;
3. Use some Multimedia systems necessary to carry out a media project.

SKILLS TO BE DEVELOPED
With this course, it is intended that the students acquire the following skills:
1. Identify a media system and recognize the importance of their use;
2. Getting produce multimedia using some specific software multimedia production.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

In this curricular unit contents will be taught that allow the student to learn techniques to master multimedia tools applied to the business area. In this sense, the unit will begin with general introductory concepts (topic 1), which will respond to Objective 1 and introduce Objective 2. Afterwards the students will do practical application using specific softwares (topics 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) completing Objective 2 and completing Objective 3.

Learning Methods

There will aplied the following methods: exhibition, demonstration and experimentation. Multimedia presentations will support most of the expository content. The most practical part of the course will be mostly dedicated to carrying out enforcement activities of the contents taught, assuming here the teacher, the role of tutor, recalling concepts and functionality, providing support and encouraging students to refine and hone their performances.
During classes students are always encouraged to take a pro-active critical participation, about the contents exposed and present current topics for debate.

Continuous Assessment

Continuous assessment topics:
Two individual written tests, each with a 35% of the final grade weighting.
One group work, with a 30% of the final grade weighting.

Under the terms of the Bachelor's Regulation:

1. The students' attendance in classes will be recorded and, if the number of absences per student exceeds 30% of the total number of lessons scheduled for each course unit, the student will be automatically transferred to the final evaluation (regular season).
2. In the written tests and other assessment elements mentioned in paragraph 2 of Art. 39 it is necessary to obtain a minimum grade of 7.5 (seven point five) points.
3. If the student misses a test or receives a grade lower than 7.5 points in the tests or in another assessment element mentioned in the previous number, the student will be automatically transferred to the final evaluation (regular season).
4. If the student misses or obtains less than 7.5 in the second written test, held in the same date of the final exam in the regular season, they may apply for further evaluation in the Appeal season.
